Henderson Valley School is a fun, happy and safe place where we all enjoy learning. We are a semi-rural school nestled between farmland and bush at the foot of the Waitakere Ranges, only 5km from the centre of Henderson. The school is set in beautiful grounds and we celebrate our ‘country school’ feeling.
Our school was opened in 1915 and our facilities have grown over the years to accommodate the learning needs of our 400 current students. We encourage lots of physical activity and our park-like grounds are a great place for children to run, jump and climb with three playgrounds, a tree hut, climbing wall, shade-covered sandpit and an artificial turf. We have a swimming pool and a community hall available for hire.
We are proud to be a Green Gold enviro-school. Our 'Green Team' works with all our students and staff to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Classes have the responsibility of tending the chickens, feeding the goats, caring for our orchard and composting our organic material so we have minimal waste.
Our school logo is Mokoroa, our taniwha. Mokoroa lives in our school grounds and is our guardian, helping us protect all that we value.
