Bring Your Own Ipad 2017
At Henderson Valley, we believe e-learning provides limitless opportunities for students to explore, create and collaborate in personalised learning environments. In the last years, we have made significant progress in our understanding of the impact digital technologies can make to learning and in our acquisition of resources to support this endeavour. The New Zealand Curriculum outlines a vision for fostering young people who will be “confident, connected, actively involved and lifelong learners” and in the 21st century, learning enhanced by the use of Digital Technologies is an integral part of this vision. In 2017 at Henderson Valley School, all Year 4, 5 and 6 students will have the option to Bring their Own Ipad to school to support this learning.

This is an amazing presentation created by the team at Aurora School in Taranaki. We very appreciative that Auroa School and Heath Chittenden gave us permission to use this to aid in our journey towards optional Bring Your Own iPad for 2016.
Digital Citizenship is a concept which helps us to understand what our children should know in order to use technology appropriately. Digital Citizenship is a way to prepare students for a society full of technology. We will continue to support students to become Super Digital Citizens by teaching cybersafety and all it entails throughout the year. We focus on 4 key areas, Privacy Rules, My Online Community, The Key to Keywords and Cyberbullying. We hope that students will become aware of their digital footprint and what impact it has, given their responsibilities as members of the Henderson Valley School online community.
At Henderson Valley we use a digital approach in our everyday teaching, integrating technology and curriculum to support and enhance our students' learning. Teachers and students alike post products of our learning on our blogs. Click here to see some examples of the type of critical thinking tasks students can complete using their Ipads. You can also find more examples on our class or student blogs which you can access through our team portals.
