Enrolment

Enrolment of a child is usually preceded by an discussion involving the Principal, the parents/caregivers, and the new student.  During this meeting an enrolment form is completed with details such as address, phone numbers, emergency contacts and notes made on specific health matters.

 If the child enrolling is a New Entrant, the parents should bring proof of age e.g. birth certificate and if available, their immunization certificate.  Parents are invited to enrol their child prior to their 5th birthday.  This is to enable new entrants to benefit from an opportunity to enjoy pre-entry school visits in our Head Start class.  Students cannot start school until on/after their 5th birthday.

Please note that in order to preserve the current optimum size of our school, we operate an enrolment scheme.  Students living inside our school zone have automatic entitlement to enrolment. 

For 2012 the following information applies to out of zone enrolments:

The board has determined that 20 places are likely to be available for out of zone students at new entrant level only next year. The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school's home zone. Next year there will be 2 enrolment periods. The first enrolment period runs from 1 February 2012 to 29 June 2012.For students seeking enrolment within the first enrolment period, the deadline for receipt of applications for out of zone places is 27 September 2011.

 If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If a ballot for out of zone places is required, it will be held on 4 October 2011.   Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.

Details relating to the second enrolment period are as follows.

·         Length of enrolment period: from 16 July 2012 to 30 November 2012

·         Deadline for receipt of applications: 20 March 2012

·         Date of ballot: 27 March 2012
